Before you start
Choose a dedicated campaign subdomain such asupdates.example.com. Use a
different subdomain from the one that sends your transactional email, such as
password resets and receipts. Campaign email attracts more unsubscribes and
spam complaints, so a separate subdomain keeps that reputation away from the
mail your users must receive.
You also need:
- A from name, such as
Acme. - A from address on that exact domain, such as
[email protected]. - Your company’s valid postal address for the required email footer.
- Access to the domain’s DNS provider.
Add the domain
- Open Settings → Email in the Galinum dashboard.
- Select the project from the project switcher.
- Enter the sending domain, from name, from address, and company address.
- Select Add domain.
Add the DNS records
Copy every record shown in Settings → Email into your DNS provider. Preserve each record’s type, name, value, and priority. A new domain needs SPF and DKIM records to send, plus tracking records that record opens and clicks. Add all of them. The domain stays partly verified while any record is missing, and a partly verified domain cannot launch a campaign. Do not proxy these records if your DNS provider offers that option. A proxied record fails verification. DNS propagation can take time. Return to Settings → Email and select Verify DNS. The status changes toverified after the provider finds all required records.
Launch requirements
An email campaign launch fails with an actionable409 response unless:
- The project has a configured sending domain.
- The domain status is
verified. - The from address uses that exact verified domain.
Recipient and unsubscribe behavior
Galinum reads the recipient from the end user’semail trait. Users without
a valid email are ineligible. An unsubscribe, permanent bounce, or spam
complaint suppresses that address across all campaign email in the project.
Every email includes a signed unsubscribe link and one-click unsubscribe
headers.
Frequency protection and billing
Galinum accepts at most 3 campaign emails per project recipient in any rolling 24-hour window, across every campaign in that project. A send above the limit is skipped permanently for that campaign and recorded asfrequency_capped. It appears in campaign and variant stats, delivery records,
and current-period usage.
An accepted campaign email makes that recipient active for MAU billing. The
recipient counts once per billing period in that project, however many accepted
messages they receive. Sends rejected before provider acceptance, suppressed,
failed before acceptance, or frequency-capped do not accrue MAU. Transactional
service email is exempt from the frequency limit.
Before launching email, check emailServing with GET /api/v1/usage. A
paused value means campaign email will not send. See
Usage & billing for payment, dunning, spend-cap, and usage
semantics.
The dashboard shows sent, frequency-capped, delivered, opened, clicked,
bounced, complaint, unsubscribe, and conversion counts on the campaign.
